To ensure students receive the support they need to succeed, HandsOn Suburban Chicago (HOSC) has teamed up with area schools to implement or increase the capacity of existing community-based tutoring and mentoring programs.


Lunch Buddies - Tutoring and Mentoring

Lunch Buddies is an in-school program benefitting low-income elementary school students and middle school students with developmental disabilities. Tutoring opportunities are available in Des Plaines and Palatine. Mentoring opportunities are available in Mount Prospect and Wheeling. A once-a-week commitment for one school year is strongly preferred

CHiL - After-School Tutoring Programs

CHiL is the HOSC-supported afterschool tutoring program at the middle schools in Community Consolidated District 21—Cooper, Holmes, and London. Dedicated community members are needed at least once per week for at least one semester to assist students with homework. No specific knowledge or education experience required. Background check required.
